Direct Eye Contact

This gesture is positive and in general suggests a sign of truthfulness, attentiveness and interest.

In western cultures this suggests friendly, politeness, acknowledging one’s presence.

In eastern cultures, direct eye contact to elderly is a sign of disrespect.

Staring at a person eyes may indicate different things. For example prolong staring with eyes wider than usual may indicate interest in person or in what is being said.

Unfocused staring at a person eyes may indicate inattentiveness to what is being said.

It’s important to read gestures in context and in clusters.
